Past Masters
The office of Master is the Guild’s highest elected position, conferred and installed annually. The Master represents the Guild at official functions and chairs Court meetings.
At first the Society of Young Freemen, the chief officer of the organisation bore the title of Chairman.
As the Society matured into the Guild of Young Freemen, and in keeping with the customs of the City of London’s Guilds and Livery Companies, this title was replaced with Master.
