Court
The Court of Assistants is the Guild’s principal governing body; led by the Master and supported by the Upper, Middle, and Renter Wardens, Officers, and Court Assistants, it acts as the Guild’s executive committee and sets out the agenda of the Guild.
The day-to-day management of the Guild is delegated to the Clerk, who in larger Livery Companies holds the role of Chief Executive. Ms Grace Abba

She is the founder of Chiama VA, a bespoke virtual assistant business that provides high-level administrative and organisational support to executives, entrepreneurs, and small business owners. Her firm specialises in calendar and travel management, project coordination, and multilingual communication, always delivered with a highly personal, tailored approach.
Grace studied Oriental Studies and Economics at the University of Venice, during which she spent six months living in China—an experience that deepened her intercultural awareness and shaped her global perspective. In 2015, she relocated to London, where she quickly developed a deep appreciation for the City and its Livery traditions.
Prior to launching her own business, Grace amassed over a decade of experience in high-level executive support roles, including positions at a FTSE 30 company and a leading private equity firm. She is fluent in English and Italian, and often refers to her bicultural identity—what she affectionately calls “Britalian”—as a bridge that enables her to foster understanding and collaboration between British and Italian communities.
In addition to her civic responsibilities as Master of the Guild, Grace is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and currently serves as Clerk to the Guild of Mercers’ Scholars.
Outside of her professional and civic commitments, Grace is the proud mother of her young son, Hugo—affectionately dubbed the Guild’s honorary youngest Young Freeman, in recognition of his mother’s service and dedication to the life of the City.
