Earlier this week, our Master, Reuben Braden-Bell, alongside Renter Warden Jacqueline Chan and Court Assistant Dmitry Lysenko, represented the Guild of Young Freemen at the ‘Rebuilding Gaza: Transforming Lives Through Eyecare’ event of its affiliated charity, the St John Eye Hospital Group. Many fellow Young Freemen and prospective members also attended the event to support the charitable affiliation of the Guild.

During the evening at the Apothecaries’ Hall, BBC journalist Samira Ahmed was in conversation with the CEO of the Hospital, Ahmad Ma’Ali, to raise awareness about the work of the Eye Hospital and its impact in the Holy Land. Master Young Freeman Reuben Braden-Bell spoke about the mission of the Guild of Young Freemen to connect young professionals, nurture leaders and future captains of industry and foster inter-livery fellowship. The event was followed by a drinks reception in the courtyard of Apothecaries’ Hall, where our fellow Young Freemen connected with representatives of various St John organisations, including St John Ambulance, and St John International.

We want to thank Master Apothecary Dr Julia Neild, Nick Royle, the Clerk, and the Court of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries for their generosity and for selecting the Guild of Young Freemen as one of their three supported organisations for the year. This allowed us to help our affiliated charity and host this event on behalf of St John Eye Hospital Group. We are also grateful to the Apothecaries’ Hall and their staff for their hospitality. Finally, we would like to thank our Middle Warden and Liveryman of the Apothecaries, Fraser Peck CC, for organising this arrangement with his livery company.
