Press Release: Partnership with the Guild of Freemen

Dec 8, 2024

The Guild of Young Freemen is proud to announce our partnership with the Guild of Freemen. Our friends in the Guild of Freemen voted at their Court meeting on 16th of October 2024 to allow the Young Freemen to book and attend their events without paying the Guild of Freemen’s annual subscription.

We hope this additional membership benefit for Young Freemen will go a long way in cementing the ties between our two Guilds and, over time, encourage more of our members choosing to join the Guild of Freemen when they age-out of the Young Freemen. At this point, the Guild of Freemen will also waive the one-off admission fine.

In December 2024, a group of Young Freemen attended the Guild of Freemen’s Annual Banquet in Guildhall. The now Immediate Past Master, Lisa Rutter, welcomed the Young Freemen and spoke about the partnership in her speech:

“One of my aims as Master this year was to build a stronger connection with the Guild of Young Freemen to introduce a natural transition point at the age of 40 for young Guild members to also have the opportunity to join ‘the over 40’s Guild of Freemen’. I believe we can create a seamless pathway for members to continue their engagement with the city and its Livery Companies, and in so doing, strengthen the bonds between both our Guilds. A collaboration between our two Guilds is something I wholeheartedly support for a long and fruitful partnership.”
