On 19th February 2025, the Guild of Young Freemen hosted the 10th edition of the Young Inter-Livery Quiz at Drapers’ Hall. We welcomed over 170 participants, including teams from 23 different Livery Companies, with over 40 Livery Companies and Guilds represented by the participants altogether.

The Young Inter-Livery Quiz is an annual competition organised by the Guild to foster fellowship among younger members of the City’s Livery Companies, Companies without Livery, and Guilds. Open to members aged 40 and under, the event offers a lively evening of friendly rivalry, networking, and the chance to showcase general knowledge in a fun and engaging atmosphere. Proceeds from the quiz go towards the chosen charities of the winning and runner-up teams, making it a fantastic opportunity to support good causes while strengthening inter-livery connections.

After a long evening of entertaining games and spirited debates — particularly over questions like, « What is the Livery Company with the longest name? » — which, much to the quizmaster’s dismay, proved to be a minefield of potential disputes among participants. The winners were announced as follows:

First place: The Dractuaries – a combined team of the Worshipful Company of Drapers and the Worshipful Company of Actuaries.

Second place: The Guild of Young Freemen’s Deputy Clerk’s team, led by Anna Kowalik, comprising young members from the Guild, the Worshipful Company of Tax Advisers (@wctaxadvisers), the Worshipful Company of Farriers, the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers (@basketmakerscompany), and the Guild of Mercer Scholars.

Third place: The Goldsmiths & Merchant Taylors team, led by fellow Young Freeman and Goldsmith, Chloe Lightfoot.

The first-place team received a £1,000 donation for their chosen charity, second place earned £500, and third place received £250.

This was only possible with the help, assistance and kind generosity of the Drapers’ Company and the work of the Court Assistants of the Guild of Young Freemen and its events committee.

We would like to thank the Worshipful Company of Drapers for hosting us and our Court Assistant and Freeman of the Drapers, Michael Polak, for his efforts in the organisation of this event.
