The Guild is very privileged to offer its members the opportunity to take an active part in the City of London’s Livery Calendar.  The extensive programme of events changes year on year to reflect the Master’s theme and Livery Company. Please find below the details of our events for the coming year along with booking links:

2:00pm, Saturday 26th January

To welcome our members into the New Year and to catch up on each of your festive frolics we hope you will join the Master in having a thoroughly enlightening private tour of a City gem, the historic Guildhall, at 2pm on Saturday 26th January.

Following the 90-minute guided tour and ample viewing opportunity for exploring further individual interests, plans are to extend the afternoon discussions in a local bar. For members who are observing dry-January this will also be an ideal opportunity to enjoy a few non-alcoholic cocktails or saintly beverages.

As with all Guild events the tour is open to friends, family, and other guests.

The Young Livery Committee of the Leathersellers' Company have generously extended an invitation to the Guild to enter their annual quiz night. This is a tremendously fun evening of friendly competition and a great opportunity to meet young members of several of the Livery Companies in the surroundings of Leathersellers' Hall.

Teams of six will enjoy a pre-quiz drinks reception followed by a professionally run quiz by Quiz Coconut, with food and drinks served throughout.

Join other members of the Guild for an informal evening of drinks at The Crosse Keys, one of our favourite City venues, and welcome newly admitted members to the Guild family. The Worshipful Company of Poulters organise this frenetic event to raise money for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, and the Guild is privileged to enter a team of four each year. The races are organised into four categories: The Masters' Race; The Members' Race; The Ladies' Race; and The Novelty Race, with a further prize awarded to the fastest time.

The races are followed by a hot luncheon in the Crypt provided by The Cook and The Butler offering racers a chance to network with all the represented Livery Companies.

City University Club, 42 Crutched Friars, EC3N 2AP

Put your taste buds to the test at the Guild's first formal visit to the new premises of the City University Club. We'll be sampling a range of interesting wines with an assortment of nibbles in this informal opportunity to catch up with fellow members.

As with all Guild events the wine tasting is open to friends, family, and other guests.

The annual service celebrating the Guilds' and Liveries' contribution to the City, with a colourful procession of Masters and the Lord Mayor in State; a truly memorable event. First run at the suggestion of the Liveries after the Blitz it was hoped that the pageantry of the City would lift the spirits of the people, and the service has become a yearly fixture ever since.

Those attending will be loaned ceremonial robes for the occasion. This service provides an incredible opportunity to see St. Paul's Cathedral in action with it's superb organ and choir.

Sittings at 12:30pm, 1:15pm, and 2:00pm, Thursday 4th April

This year sees the 12th annual Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch held at the historic Guildhall in the heart of the City. The Lunch unites the City of London to show their support for members of the Armed Forces and Veterans through the three National Service Charities; ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.

The event is attended by a royal guest of honour along with senior officers of the services and the Secretary of State for Defence. Tickets include unlimited curry, beer, and wine, and the Guild is pleased to be able to offer a limited number of subsidised tickets through the generosity of our Livery partners. Book early to avoid disappointment!

Hackney City Farm, 1a Goldsmiths Row, E2 8QA

Join fellow members of the Guild on this fun day out to one of London's city farms. There, members will have the opportunity to learn about farming in the city as well as get some hands on experience! We hope that as many members as possible will attend this event, as it is an opportunity for us to give back to the community in some volunteering activities.

Hackney City Farm have been a focal point in the East End community for over 20 years, providing skills and experience to young people in the community, and has become a dedicated community resource run by a team of enthusiastic volunteers.

Holland & Holland Shooting Grounds, Ducks Hill Road, Northwood, HA6 2ST
Wednesday 15th May

The annual Inter-Livery Clay Shoot is one of the highlights of the City of London charity calendar. Since its inception it has been hugely successful in raising funds for charities nominated by the winning teams, and each year also makes a donations to the Lord Mayor's charity.

This charity competition pits members of all Guilds and Livery Companies against one another in a host of disciplines with a range of prizes to be won. Hosted at the historic Holland & Holland shooting grounds, the Guild enters both teams and individuals for the event.

Cowes
Saturday 18th May

Hosted by the City Livery Yacht Club, this regatta sees entrants battling in a race for the coveted Lord Mayor's Cup. Members and crews will meet before the race for a buffet supper on the Friday evening before the racing kicks off on the Saturday morning and a second race in the afternoon. The immensely popular event concludes with a presentation dinner at the Royal Yacht Squadron.

The Guild is entering a team for the 2019 race, and training weekends will be organised prior to the event - for those intending on racing, please email before the end of January so our captain can co-ordinate the crew.

Members of the Guild act as stewards for this wonderful service which dates back to 1655 and brings together the Church, City, commerce, and public life in spectacular fashion.

The Sons and Friends of the Clergy is a charity which supports the wellbeing of clergy families, particularly through times of financial hardship. We invite you to visit their website to learn more about their work.

The final event of the Master’s year; join us for a black tie reception celebrating the achievements of the Guild over the previous year with a farewell speech from the Master.

Join other members of the Guild to welcome the newly installed Master with a relaxing garden party in the grounds of the Guild's church, with a guest judge from the Bakers’ Company for the charity bake-off. Entries to the competition are £5.00 per entry with all proceeds going directly to the Guild's Charity.

As with all Guild events the garden party is open to friends, family, and other guests.

Daytona Circuit Sandown Park Racecourse, Surrey, KT10 8AN

The Worshipful Company of Glovers organises the Go Kart Grand Prix in aid of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal. Following tuition and then some practice sessions teams of 3-4 drivers will race throughout the day in an epic two hour endurance race in pursuit of the winner’s trophy, which will incorporate driver changes and pit-stops in a ‘Le Mans’ style format. Spectators are welcome to watch from the trackside.

The City Music Foundation hosts this celebration of beer, music, and food to support gifted musicians in partnership with the Worshipful Company of Brewers, with proceeds going to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.

A highlight of the social season and undoubtedly the best-known regatta in the world; join fellow members for a great day of racing and pageantry in the splendid surroundings of Phyllis Court Club.

This year's Installation Banquet will be held at Apothecaries' Hall by kind permission of the Master and Wardens of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries. We are thrilled to announce that our patron The Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress will be in attendance to give a keynote speech - we expect tickets will sell out fast for this event so book early to avoid disappointment.

The evening will consist of a drinks reception, followed by a sumptuous 3 course dinner with wines, port, coffee, and chocolates; the dress code is white tie (black tie acceptable) with decorations, or mess dress for serving officers. We hope as many of you are able to join us as possible for what will no doubt be a tremendously enjoyable evening.

Fishmongers' Hall, London Bridge, EC4R 9EL

The Sheep Drive is a major City event involving some 600 Freemen of the City of London crossing the bridge with their sheep, raising thousands of pounds for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal and the Woolmens' Charitable Trust, and the Guild has a vital part to play in this event. As marshals the Young Freemen will be the public face of the Sheep Drive, leading people across the bridge, dressed in their scarlet robes. Coverage of the event is global with images syndicated across the world.

The event is free for Young Freemen and their guests, and includes breakfast and a hot lunch. A standout event in our year, this event is truly one of a kind and not to be missed.

The carol service is a hugely popular event in the Guild's programme; hosted at the Guild's church and featuring a reading by the Master, members and friends find this event a highlight of the season.

The service will be followed by mulled wine and mince pies, and further drinks in a nearby establishment for those who wish to continue the festivities. We very much hope that members and their guests will be able join us to celebrate Christmas and our last event of the calendar year in the festive good cheer only Young Freemen know!
