The Guild is very privileged to offer its members the opportunity to take an active part in the City of London’s Livery Calendar.  The extensive programme of events changes year on year to reflect the Master’s theme and Livery Company. Please find below the details of our events for the coming year along with booking links:

2020 Events

2:45pm for 3:00pm - 4:30pm, Saturday 25th January

To welcome members and their guests into the New Year and to catch up on each of your festive frolics, we hope you will join us for a thoroughly enlightening tour of a City gem, the historic Guildhall, at 3pm on Saturday 25th January.

Following the 90-minute guided tour and ample viewing opportunity for exploring further individual interests, we will decamp to a nearby wine bar for further informal discussions about the Guild of Young Freemen and the Livery movement for those who are interested in becoming a part of the rich City traditions.

Prospective members are very much encouraged to attend this introductory event.

The Guild of Young Freemen invite you to join us for an evening of tremendously fun and friendly competition in the surroundings of the Guildhall Club at the annual Young Livery Inter-Livery Quiz. The event is a great opportunity to meet young members of several of the Livery Companies, and all proceeds will be donated to the charity of the winning team.

Teams of six will enjoy a pre-quiz drinks reception followed by a professionally run quiz by Quiz Coconut, with food and drinks served throughout.

The Worshipful Company of Poulters organise this frenetic event to raise money for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, and the Guild is privileged to enter a team of four each year. The races are organised into four categories: The Masters' Race; The Members' Race; The Ladies' Race; and The Novelty Race, with a further prize awarded to the fastest time.

The races are followed by a hot luncheon in the Crypt provided by The Cook and The Butler offering racers a chance to network with all the represented Livery Companies.

Join other members of the Guild for an informal evening of drinks at The Crosse Keys, one of our favourite City venues, and welcome newly admitted members to the Guild family. Booking is not required for our informal networking drinks, and prospective members/guests are more than welcome to attend; we recommend prospective members email in advance to let us know to expect you.

10:45am for 11:00am - 12:00pm, Friday 27th March

The annual service celebrating the Guilds' and Liveries' contribution to the City, with a colourful procession of Masters and the Lord Mayor in State; a truly memorable event. First run at the suggestion of the Liveries after the Blitz it was hoped that the pageantry of the City would lift the spirits of the people, and the service has become a yearly fixture ever since.

Those attending will be loaned ceremonial robes for the occasion. This service provides an incredible opportunity to see St. Paul's Cathedral in action with it's superb organ and choir. Due to the limited provision of tickets we encourage you to book early to ensure your place.

Sittings at 12:30pm, 1:15pm, and 2:00pm, TBA April

This year sees the 12th annual Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch held at the historic Guildhall in the heart of the City. The Lunch unites the City of London to show their support for members of the Armed Forces and Veterans through the three National Service Charities; ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.

The event is attended by a royal guest of honour along with senior officers of the services and the Secretary of State for Defence. Tickets include unlimited curry, beer, and wine, and the Guild is pleased to be able to offer a limited number of subsidised tickets through the generosity of our Livery partners. Book early to avoid disappointment!

Members of the Guild are invited to attend an informal networking evening with members of the Master's Mother Livery, the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists at their hall, one of the newest in the City of London. This will be an opportunity to hear all about the Company and its activities, as well as a chance to catch up with other Young Freemen.

Nibbles and drinks will be provided, and we are delighted that a representative of WCIT will give a short talk about the Company and its activities, and on the ways that Young Freemen can get involved with the Livery.

Members of the Guild act as stewards for this wonderful service which dates back to 1655 and brings together the Church, City, commerce, and public life in spectacular fashion.

The Sons and Friends of the Clergy is a charity which supports the wellbeing of clergy families, particularly through times of financial hardship. We invite you to visit their website to learn more about their work.

Holland & Holland Shooting Grounds, Ducks Hill Road, Northwood HA6 2ST
Wednesday 13th May

The annual Inter-Livery Clay Shoot is one of the highlights of the City of London charity calendar. Since its inception it has been hugely successful in raising funds for charities nominated by the winning teams, and each year also makes a donations to the Lord Mayor's charity.

This charity competition pits members of all Guilds and Livery Companies against one another in a host of disciplines with a range of prizes to be won. Hosted at the historic Holland & Holland shooting grounds, the Guild enters both teams and individuals for the event.

Saturday 16th May

Hosted by the City Livery Yacht Club, this regatta sees entrants battling in a race for the coveted Lord Mayor's Cup. Members and crews will meet before the race for a buffet supper on the Friday evening before the racing kicks off on the Saturday morning and a second race in the afternoon. The immensely popular event concludes with a presentation dinner at the Royal Yacht Squadron.

The Guild is entering a team for the 2019 race, and training weekends will be organised prior to the event - for those intending on racing, please email before the end of January so our captain can co-ordinate the crew.

Join other members of the Guild to welcome the newly installed Master at the first event of our 2020-2021 year with a relaxing garden party in the grounds of the Guild's church, with a guest judge from the Bakers’ Company for the charity bake-off. Entries to the competition are £5.00 per entry with all proceeds going directly to the Guild's Charity.

As with all Guild events the garden party is open to friends, family, and other guests.

A highlight of the social season and undoubtedly the best-known regatta in the world; join fellow members for a great day of racing and pageantry in the splendid surroundings of Phyllis Court Club.
